$8m road funding welcomed
KIPT managing director John Sergeant welcomed the recent announcement by the State Government of $8 million in road funding for Kangaroo Island.
“The maintenance of roads is an ongoing issue for Kangaroo Island. We are pleased the State Government continues to recognise the enormity of such a job for the small population on a big island that hosts so much tourism.”
“Kangaroo Island also depends on its agriculture sector, which relies on a well-maintained road network to deliver its goods to market.”
KIPT was especially pleased to see that some of the funds are committed to the upgrading of North Coast Road, which will be integral to the Island’s forestry industry.
“Road transport and safety are important to us and to the community of Kangaroo Island. We are working with a number of consultants and stakeholders on these matters.”
